How Much Does a Pool Table Cost in 2026?

I've sold and installed pool tables for over a decade, and the #1 question I get is "what's this going to cost me, total?" Not just the table. Everything. Here's the real breakdown with no fluff and no hidden fees.

New Pool Table Prices (2026)

If you walk into a billiard showroom and buy new, here's what you're looking at:

Category Brands Price Range
Budget (MDF)Fat Cat, Hathaway, GoSports$300 – $800
Entry SlatePlaycraft, Imperial$1,500 – $2,500
Mid-Range SlateOlhausen, Brunswick Contender$2,500 – $5,000
Premium SlateBrunswick Gold Crown, Diamond$5,000 – $10,000
Custom / LuxuryBlatt Billiards, Mitchell, custom builds$10,000 – $50,000+

And that's just the table. Now add delivery ($200-400), professional installation ($300-500), and accessories ($200-400 for a decent set). A "mid-range" new table with everything included runs $3,500-6,000 out the door.

Used Pool Table Prices (2026)

This is where the math gets interesting. Here's what quality used slate tables cost through a dealer like us:

Category Examples Price Range
Good Condition SlateVarious brands, plays great$800 – $1,500
Premium Used SlateBrunswick, Olhausen, Connelly$1,500 – $3,000
Restored / RefinishedFull restoration with new felt, cushions$2,500 – $4,500

Our tables come with professional delivery, installation, and leveling included. No surprise fees. A used Brunswick 8ft with delivery and install typically runs $1,500-2,500 total. That same table new? $4,000-6,000.

The Real Cost Comparison

Let me show you a real example from last month. A customer in San Diego wanted an 8ft Brunswick for their game room:

Option A: Buy New

Brunswick Contender 8ft$3,800
Delivery$350
Professional install$400
Accessory kit$250
Total$4,800

Option B: Buy Used from Us

Brunswick 8ft (excellent condition)$1,600
Delivery + install + levelingIncluded
New felt (color of choice)Included
Accessory kit$150
Total$1,750

Savings: $3,050 (63%). Same brand. Same slate. Same gameplay. The customer couldn't tell it wasn't new after we refelted and leveled it.

Hidden Costs Most People Miss

Whether you buy new or used, budget for these:

  • Installation ($300-500 if not included): Never skip professional installation. A pool table is a precision instrument. DIY assembly voids most warranties and almost always results in an uneven playing surface. Our tables include installation.
  • Accessories ($100-400): You need cues, a rack, chalk, a brush, and a cover at minimum. A basic kit runs $100-150. Premium Simonis cloth cues and a nice wall rack push it to $300-400.
  • Refelting ($300-600): New tables come with felt. Used tables should be refelted if the cloth is worn. We include new felt with our used tables - you pick the color.
  • Room prep ($0-2,000): If you need to remove carpet, reinforce a floor, or widen a doorway for delivery, that's on you. We'll tell you upfront if any of this is needed.
  • Lighting ($50-500): A proper table light makes a huge difference. LED billiard lights start around $50 on Amazon. Proper fixtures run $200-500.

Is a $300 Amazon Pool Table Worth It?

No. I say this with zero hesitation and zero agenda (we don't even sell them). A $300-800 MDF table from Amazon or Walmart is not a real pool table. The playing surface warps within months, the cushions die within a year, and it can't be releveled or refelted. You'll spend $300 today and $1,500 next year replacing it with a slate table. Read our full breakdown on slate vs MDF.

If your budget is truly $300-800, wait two more months, save up to $1,200, and buy a real used slate table. It will last 20+ years instead of 20 months.

How to Get the Best Deal

  1. Buy used from a dealer, not Craigslist. Dealer tables are inspected, refelted, and come with professional installation. Craigslist tables are "as-is" and you're paying movers separately.
  2. Ask about package deals. We often bundle tables with accessories and save you 15-20% vs buying separately.
  3. Timing matters. We get more inventory after holidays and during spring cleaning season (Jan-Mar). More inventory = more options at every price point.
  4. Don't overpay for brand names. A well-maintained no-name slate table plays as well as a Brunswick at half the price. The slate doesn't know what badge is on the rail.
  5. Finance if needed. We offer financing options so you can get the right table now instead of settling for something cheap.

Save 40-60% on a quality slate table.

Professional delivery, installation, and leveling included. Tell us your budget and we'll find the right table.
